Boat of the Year schedule will be voted on at the Fleet 5 party.
Posted on February 20th, 2010 No commentsBoat of the Year schedule will be voted on at the Fleet 5 party. If you cannot make the party please send a representative with your proxy. You can email Blane Shea with you proxy vote if you cannot find anyone to make the event. We will be finalizing the BOY race schedule due to Area III’s request to have it completed by March 1st. You can view the 2009 schedule at http://fleet5.j105.org/wp/?page_id=77ew . As fleet president I would recommend keeping the schedule the same except removing the Mayor Daley due to the Nationals. We will also have to decide on a late May regatta due to the Olympic Cup change. Please visit the Area III website for all the races http://www.sailyachtracing.com/cgi-bin/SailYachtRacing.cgi -

Sheldon Clark/Great Lakes/J105 North Americans interest poll :
Posted on January 13th, 2010 No commentsThe weekend before 105 North American Championship here in Chicago (September 16-19th) will be the Sheldon Clark regatta (Sept. 11-12th). We are looking to see how many boats would plan on racing both the Sheldon Clark regatta AND the J/105 NAs because if there is enough interest in both, we would seek to host the Great Lakes J/105 Championships in conjunction with the Sheldon Clark regatta. Some boats (esp. those not based in Chicago) may want to do both the regatta and the NAs in order to get adjusted to Chicago weather and conditions. Others, may not be able to race both time due to obligations and other commitments (family/work, etc.)Please respond to the poll provided on this page with your intentions of racing these events.

Fall Meeting: Message from Blane Shea
Posted on October 1st, 2009 No commentsFleet 5:
Please allocate time for our fall meeting Wednesday, October 7th. We have an absolutely packed schedule. Therefore, the plan is to move through the agenda only. I would ask that people email questions that concern you to Brian or myself prior to the meeting. We will prioritize requests which we believe we may be able to address at the meeting.
It is time to embrace technology in the sailing community. The fleet 5 site is a tool which we will utilize to more efficiently community with the members. There is a poll on the right side of the home page which I ask you review and vote. The results will be shown at the meeting and will assist us in expediting the matter.
I look forward to seeing you all at Chicago Yacht Club next week.
Sincerely,
Blane Shea
Acting President, Fleet 5

Perhaps the most dramatic of the races was the Waukegan-to-Chicago, a 26.1 nm race, completed in 2 hours and 36 minutes, or an average speed of 10 knots. Sealark’s two throw-outs were a 2 (Chicago-to-Mackinac) and a 4 (Chicago-to-Waukegan). In second overall was PHANTOM with 9 points and PRONTO II with 10 points. There were seven competitors in the GI-LD Series, with five race legs in all, the Waukegan race @26.1 nm x 2, Mackinac @289.4 nm, and the St. Joseph race @ 50.5 nm x 2, or a total of 442.6 nm sailed.

bi-state_nor_2009 entry_form_bi-ste_2009 www.jacksonparkyachtclub.org
To all interested participants:
The NOR’s listed on the Jackson Park Yacht Club for the 2009 Bi-State Race had the incorrect finish area. The finish will be approximately where it was last year. They exact Lat and Long will be listed in the special SSI’s that will be posted on the JPYC website by the end of this weekend.
Due to the unfortunate circumstance of JPYC’s phone cable going down, all phone and fax communications with the Club are at best compromised to non-existent. The Park District working with ATT cannot give us a time when they will be back in operation. THEREFORE:
PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR ENTRY FORMS TO:
